Business Coaching Books

Are you looking for a few good business coaching books?

Coaching is not just a external service that you can avail yourself of, coaching is very useful for employee management as well. On this page you will find reviews of business coaching books that explain coaching for performance and how you can implement coaching in your business.

General Books on Coaching

Coaching Basics (Astd Training Basics Series)
Lisa Haneberg (2006)
ISBN: 978 1 56286 424 8

This book gives the reader some 'basic' information about Coaching.

Topics include what coaching is, how a basic coaching is applied in practice, and the theoretical underpinnings of coaching (i.e., adult learning theory etc.)

Coaching for Performance

Coaching for Performance, Third Edition (People Skills for Professionals)
John Whitmore (2006)
ISBN: 978 1 85788 303 9

This book is a coaching guide for practitioners who want to do more advanced work with their clients.

Coaching : Evoking Excellence in Others
Published by: Elsevier Butterworth-Heinemann
ISBN: 0 07506 7920 4

Basically, this book is a how to of coaching. Flaherty bases his text on psychological and management theories, concepts and models to present to his audience how they can be applied to enrich the coaching relationship and empower the coach.

The Business of Coaching

The Handbook of Coaching:
A Comprehensive Resource Guide for Managers, Executives, Consultants, and Human Resource Professionals

Published by: Jossey-Bass Books
ISBN: 0 7879 4795 4

This book claims to be a comprehensive resource guide for managers, executives, consultants and human resource professionals.

To that end, it does indeed provide a comprehensive list of useful resources at the end of each chapter, and an appendix which provides a list of a number of coaching tools including assessments, inventories and training resources. I personally found this feature of the book not only unusual but incredibly useful!

Coaching Methods

Behavioral Coaching:
How to build a sustainable personal and organizational strength

Published by: McGraw Hill Professional
ISBN: 0 074 71328 0

The publisher of this book claims it is the first book published that details a model of behavioural-based coaching and how to apply it.

I tend to agree with that assessment!
