How to Get Started
by Bryan
I would like to start my own business but I do not know where or how to get started, I could use a few tips on the steps I need to take in order to do it right. Do I get a loan first? How much? Or do I get the place and then the loan?
YOUR ANSWER
Before your question can be answered appropriately we need a bit more information.
Do you know what kind of business you want to start? Have you done any research into the market for your goods or services? Do you know who your customers will be or where you will find them?
Before you race out and apply for a loan or to secure premises, you need to have a clear idea of what your business model will look like.
Clear enough that you will be able to convince a banker or potential investor that you are a good risk, and for a new business that will be very difficult unless you have another source of income or if you have significant assets that you can offer as collateral.
The first step in my opinion is to fully research and develop your business model and to put together a comprehensive business plan.
Not only will that give you a document that can support your loan application it will also help you to 'fully flesh out' your business idea and identify any problem areas you might face in getting the business off the ground.
If you would like to learn a bit more on how to put together a business plan you might find the information on this website useful.
