Permission to Advertise?

by robbiero

If I want to start my own business listing website, do I need to get permission to put a listing for a local business on my site?

I want to include local listings like restaurants, pubs, clubs etc.....

Do I need to get there permission to put their business onto the site? This will be a UK based website.

YOUR ANSWER

How do you intend to make money from your business listings?

You might not need permission to add a local business to your website but if you do contact them, you might find that they are able to write the listing for you, rather than having to write them all yourself.

Some may even be prepared to pay for a 'premium' listing on your site (maybe not in the early stages - but maybe when your site has generated enough traffic to earn some credibility).

There may also be potential for the businesses listed to pay you finder's fees or referrals for new customers that find the businesses through your site.
